Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones was a full practice participant on Thursday on the same day the NFL Network reported he has a fractured fibula.
Jones insists he will be on the field when the Colts (8-3) host the Houston Texans (6-5) in a AFC South showdown on Sunday.
The Colts did not confirm or deny the report of a broken fibula.
Colts coach Shane Steichen didnāt offer much when pressed on Jones earlier this week.
āAll Iāve got for you is heās got a fibula (injury) and thatās it,ā Steichen said.
On Wednesday, Jones said he couldnāt say exactly when he was injured.
He reported it to the Colts last week and popped up on the teamās injury report on Thursday prior to Sundayās 23-20 overtime loss to the host Kansas City Chiefs.
āIt was just something that was kind of hanging over and realized it last week,ā Jones said. āJust been trying to get treatment and make sure Iām in the best spot I can be.ā
Jones repeated that the injury isnāt serious enough to cause him to sit out against Houston.
āIām all good,ā Jones said. āIāll be ready to go on Sunday. Obviously, I was out there last week. Iām good to go.ā
Steichen is just as comfortable that the injury wonāt be a problem.
āThere are no limitations with him right now,ā Steichen said. āSo, we go through our weekly game plan process, and we go from there.ā
Houston leads the NFL in total defense (264.3 yards per game) and ranks second in scoring defense (16.5 points per game). Any issues with Jonesā mobility could become an issue because the Texans sacked reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen eight times for 70 yards in a 23-19 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 20.
Rookie Riley Leonard is Indianapolisā backup quarterback. The sixth-round draft pick has seen action in one game and thrown two incomplete passes.
The Colts also list cornerback Sauce Gardner (back), linebacker Jaylon Carlies (ankle) and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore (knee) as full practice participants on their Thursday injury report. Carlies, who started six games last year as a rookie, has yet to play this season.
