The win that saved the Eagles season

Sunday’s matchup with the Jaguars was touted as a must win game and for good reason. Neither team could afford to drop to 3-5. Fortunately for the Eagles, they were able to close out a game they desperately needed. The win comes at a cost since they lost Lane Johnson for a month. However, they will worry about that when the time comes. The most important thing, he wasn’t lost for the whole season. They now have the bye week to make whatever trades they need and to rest up for the stretch run.

I have no idea what Howie has up his sleeve, but I know he will make every effort to improve the Eagles before the deadline. Despite Sunday’s result, this is still a very flawed football team. What the win against the Jaguars did was buy the Eagles more time to get things right for the rest of the year. At 4-4 and the bye this week, it keeps the Eagles in the hunt. We’ll really see what this team is about after the bye.

If you want to know more about this Eagles team, wait until their trip to New Orleans in three weeks. I expect the Eagles to beat the Cowboys on Sunday night after the bye. The following weeks game against the Saints will tell us if the Eagles are back and can be a legitimate threat like they were last season. Time will tell, but let’s enjoy the fact that there is still a lot to play for.
