Once again, Eagles defy the odds

I believe I speak for a lot of people when I say this. I am running out of adjectives to describe this Eagles team. The run that this year’s Eagles have gone on is more improbable than last year’s journey to the Super Bowl. At 4-6, I along with many others wrote them off. Now, we all look foolish for doing so.

Yesterday in Chicago, I felt the Eagles had to play a perfect game to come out with a victory. They did not play the perfect game. Nick Foles squandered two scoring opportunities with his two first half interceptions. The Bears won the turnover and finished the game +2. Home teams that were +2 in the turnover margin were 112-4 coming into yesterday’s game. It just so happens that none of those other 112 times was the home team playing against Nick Foles.

Did Foles play his best game as an Eagle yesterday? Absolutely not. I am sure he would love to have those two interceptions back. He did, however, make all the throws he had to make when it mattered most. On a day where the Eagles running attack was limited, it was up to Foles and he answered the call. The defense also played one hell of a game. I think they were sick of hearing about the Bears defense and wanted to show what they were made of. They started giving up some bigger plays in the second half, but overall, they played a solid game.

Last, but not least, thank you Cody Parkey! Now, the next game is against the Saints in the Superdome. We’ll talk about that later in the week. Right now, we’re all just going to enjoy the moment and this victory versing the Bears. Go Birds!
